Grade 7-12 SCIENCE TEACHER

Washburn Public School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Grade 7-12 Science Teacher to join our faculty and science department. The ideal candidate will inspire students in grades 7-12 through engaging, standards-aligned science instruction. Candidates should be enthusiastic about teaching and committed to fostering critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and a lifelong love of science.  Currently this position teachers Physical Science, Earth Science, and rotationally from year to year offers Forensics, Chemistry, and could offer other courses such as Physics.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with state and national standards

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment

  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs

Job Title: Part-Time Assistant to the School Business Manager

Reports to: School Business Manager / Superintendent

Position Summary:

The Part-Time Assistant to the School Business Manager provides clerical, financial, and operational support to ensure accurate and efficient business office operations. This role assists with purchasing, data entry, recordkeeping, and communication duties related to school finance and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in processing purchase orders, invoices, and check requests

  • Maintain organized files for accounts payable/receivable and vendor documentation

  • Input and update data in financial or accounting software (e.g., PowerSchool, Software Unlimited, or district-specific programs)

  • Prepare basic financial reports and spreadsheets as directed

  • Reconcile petty cash or credit card receipts and support monthly account balancing

  • Support payroll-related document tracking (e.g., timecards, leave forms)

  • Assist with audit preparation and documentation gathering

  • Handle correspondence and schedule meetings as needed

  • Respond to routine inquiries from vendors, staff, and the public

  • Maintain confidentiality in all business-related matters

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or bookkeeping experience preferred)

  • Basic knowledge of office and accounting procedures

  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), email, and document processing tools

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of meeting deadlines

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a school office environment

Assistant Cook

Washburn Public School is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Assistant Cook to join our food service team. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation and service of nutritious meals for students and staff in a safe, efficient, and sanitary environment. This position is part of a small, supportive school community committed to student wellness and positive relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and serving daily meals following USDA and school nutrition guidelines

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and cafeteria

  • May wash dishes, sanitize food prep areas, and handle food waste properly

  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times

  • Assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, and storing food supplies

  • Work cooperatively with the head cook and other school staff

  • Help create a positive dining experience for students

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Prior food service experience desirable but not required—will train the right candidate

  • Ability to follow directions, work independently, and manage time effectively

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods

  • Willingness to complete required food safety training and background check

Schedule & Compensation:

  • 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, Following School Calendar

  • Hourly wage based on experience and qualifications

  • Position begins mid-August to work in planning with the Head Cook.

Central Office Administrative Assistant

Washburn Public School is seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Administrative Assistant to support our high school office operations. As the first point of contact for students, parents, and visitors, the ideal candidate will be professional, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced school environment. This position is vital to the daily success of our small school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist students, parents, staff, and visitors

  • Answer phones, direct calls, and respond to inquiries

  • Maintain student records, attendance, and data entry in the student information system

  • Support the superintendent, principal, and teaching staff with clerical and scheduling needs

  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and school communications

  • Handle confidential information with discretion

  • Assist with coordination of school events, substitute scheduling, and general office operations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred)

  • Experience in an office or school setting preferred

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, SIS (PowerSchool/Infinite Campus) experience a plus)

Schedule & Compensation:

  • 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, following the school calendar

Washburn Public School is accepting applications for a Kitchen Helper to assist with daily meal preparation, service, and cleanup in the school cafeteria. This position supports the food service team in providing healthy, nutritious meals to students in a clean, safe environment. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with basic food preparation and portioning

  • Set up serving areas and assist with meal service

  • Wash dishes, trays, and utensils; clean kitchen equipment and surfaces

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cook

Qualifications:

 ND Reading Corps is seeking tutors to help Washburn Public School Kindergarten through 3rd grade students who need extra support learning to read for the 2025-2026 school year. Tutors work one-on-one for 20 minute sessions with a caseload of students on a set daily schedule. North Dakota Reading Corps provides comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students learn, so tutors are well equipped to help students grow. This part-time AmeriCorps position requires a 9 month commitment for the school year beginning in September, 5 days a week for 20 or 28 hours per week. Tutors work during the school day while school is in session.

K-3 Math Corps Tutors 

 ND Math Corps is seeking tutors for the 2025-26 school year to support Washburn Public School Kindergarten – 3rd grade students to improve foundational math skills.  Math Corps is an evidence-based math tutoring program where tutors provide 20 minutes of daily tutoring to groups of 2 students, with a caseload of 7-9 groups. North Dakota Math Corps provides comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students learn, so tutors are well equipped to help students grow. This part-time AmeriCorps position requires a 9 month commitment for the school year beginning in September, 3-5 days a week for 20-28 hours per week. Tutors work during the school day while school is in session.

4-8th Math Corps Tutors 

 ND Math Corps is seeking tutors for the 2025-26 school year to support Washburn Public School 4th-8th grade students to improve foundational math skills required for algebra readiness, Math Corps is an evidence-based math tutoring program where tutors provide 90 minutes of weekly tutoring to a caseload of 12-17 students on a set daily schedule. North Dakota Math Corps provides comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students learn, so tutors are well equipped to help students grow. This part-time AmeriCorps position requires a 9 month commitment for the school year beginning in September, 3-5 days a week for 20-28 hours per week.
