Position: Agriculture Education Instructor / FFA Advisor--2026-2027 School Year
Location: Washburn Public School, Washburn, North Dakota
Reports To: 7-12 Principal
Contract Length: Standard Teacher Contract with Extended Contract Options Available

Position Summary

Washburn Public School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Agriculture Education Instructor that will inherit a comprehensive agricultural education program aligned to North Dakota Career and Technical Education standards. The successful candidate will provide engaging classroom instruction, supervise experiential learning opportunities, and serve as the advisor for the local FFA chapter. This position includes extended contract options to support FFA activities, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) visits, and program development.

Primary Responsibilities

Instructional Duties

  • Develop and deliver high-quality agricultural education curriculum aligned with North Dakota State CTE standards.

  • Teach a variety of agriculture-related courses which may include, but are not limited to:

    • Introduction to Agriculture

    • Animal Science

    • Plant Science

    • Agricultural Mechanics

    • Agribusiness

    • Natural Resources / Environmental Science

    • Food Science

    • Horticulture

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

  • Integrate leadership, career readiness, and employability skills into instruction.

  • Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies.

  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom, laboratory, and shop environment.

FFA Leadership and Advisement

  • Serve as advisor for the Washburn FFA Chapter.

  • Plan and coordinate chapter meetings, leadership activities, and community service projects.

  • Prepare students for Career Development Events (CDEs), Leadership Development Events (LDEs), and other competitions.

  • Supervise student participation at district, state, and national FFA events.

  • Support student leadership development and officer team training.

  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and national FFA guidelines.

Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Program

  • Assist students in developing and maintaining individualized SAE projects.

  • Conduct SAE supervision visits as required by state CTE guidelines.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records of student SAE progress.

  • Encourage community partnerships that support student experiential learning.

Program Development and Community Engagement

  • Maintain and promote a strong agricultural education program aligned with community and industry needs.

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local agricultural businesses, organizations, and post-secondary institutions.

  • Assist with program recruitment and student retention efforts.

  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and inventory related to the agriculture program.

Extended Contract Responsibilities

Extended contract days will support:

  • FFA event supervision and travel

  • SAE site visits and evaluations

  • Summer leadership and training activities

  • Curriculum development and program planning

  • Equipment and facility maintenance

  • Student recruitment and community outreach

Qualifications

  • Valid or ability to obtain North Dakota Teaching License with Agriculture Education endorsement.

  • Strong knowledge of agricultural industry practices and emerging technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with students in classroom, laboratory, and shop settings.

  • Ability to supervise students during travel and extended activities.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous FFA advising experience.

  • Experience supervising SAE programs.

  • Agricultural industry or related work experience.

  • Experience managing agricultural mechanics or shop-based instruction.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and operate agricultural and shop equipment.

  • Ability to work in indoor classroom/shop environments and outdoor agricultural settings.

  • Ability to travel and supervise students during extended hours and overnight events.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary based on district negotiated agreement.

  • Extended contract days compensated according to district guidelines.

Position Summary

Washburn Public Schools is seeking a student-centered educator to serve as a Title I Teacher with preference given to someone who has or would be willing to become English Learner (EL) Services Credentialed. This position provides targeted academic intervention and English language development instruction to students needing additional support to meet grade-level standards.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, families, and administration to ensure equitable access to learning and academic success for all students.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Title I Services

  • Provide small-group and individualized instruction in reading and math

  • Use assessment data to design and adjust interventions

  • Progress monitor students and maintain accurate records

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align instruction

  • Participate in MTSS/RTI team meetings

  • Support parent communication and family engagement

English Learner (EL) Services (if applicable)

  • Provide English language development instruction (speaking, listening, reading, writing)

  • Develop and monitor Individual Language Plans (ILPs)

  • Assist classroom teachers with instructional accommodations

  • Administer and support language proficiency assessments

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal EL program requirements

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in professional learning communities and school improvement efforts

  • Maintain documentation required for federal programs

  • Support positive relationships with students and families

  • Other duties as assigned by administration

Qualifications

  • North Dakota teaching license (required)

  • EL endorsement or willingness to obtain (preferred)

  • Background in reading instruction/intervention preferred

CLASSROOM PARAEDUCATOR

The Washburn is seeking a Part-Time or Full-Time Custodian This position will begin effective immediately

Position Summary:
The custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in all school facilities. Duties include daily cleaning, disinfecting, minor maintenance, and assisting with set-up for school events.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

  • Prior custodial or maintenance experience preferred but not required.

  • Reliability and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Preference will be given to applicants who could also do light maintenance work.

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Full-time or part time can be flexible will take before or after school help
