Today the kids tried Persimmons! They are native to Asia but can grow in other warm climates. The ones I served today were purchased from Costco (if you would like to buy some to try at home) and grown in California.

Congratulations to Amelia Swanson for being selected by live audition for the University of North Dakota honor band! The festival is January 24-26.
See her perform at the Chester Fritz auditorium Sunday, January 26 on the campus of UND.

It's a GREAT day to be a Cardinal!
Here is the First Gratitude Drawing. Because Gratitude can "fill our cups"--these winners chose a cup of their choice!
The submissions were as follows:
Student: Parker Jacobson from a Community Member
“Parker, we are so impressed with your drive to complete everything to the end. Parker is such a kind young man. Everyone is so blessed to have this kid in their lives."
Staff: Mr Kamrath from a student
“Mr. K is always very encouraging, and I can talk to him about anything. Whatever I ask him, he has a wise answer to. I always feel better after I talk to him about a problem. He is also an amazing FFA advisor and did a great job working out all the events at Nationals last month. Mr. Kamrath is the best!"
Keep the gratitude coming! Your responses have been GREAT! You can express your appreciation online at: https://tinyurl.com/WPSGivesThanks

Due to the inclement weather conditions, we will start school at 10:25 AM tomorrow (11/20). No before school programming or breakfast. Please stay tuned in the morning for further updates.

December 5 is our Elementary Christmas Concert where our students sing and play in the band depending on their ages and commitments. We are committed to our students being able to participate and do not want transportation to be a barrier for them attending the concert!
Students need to be at the concert by 6:50 PM for the 7:00 PM showtime for choir and 6:40 PM if they are in elementary band. The concert typically lasts 1-1:15 hours approximately, and then we'd bus them back.
Below, please provide a list of all students to be picked up, their grades, the physical address that we would pick the students up at, and contact person and number to confirm a pick up time.
If there is room on the bus, we would be willing to transport the adult with the student to the concert--this is dependent on how many sign up for the service as we will run one bus. Thank you.

On Friday for the "Fresh Fruits and Vegetable program" the kids had the option to try some fresh made Mango Salsa! Many were very skeptical but ended up really liking it! I had a few kids who even asked if I could "share the recipe with their mom". I was very impressed so many were willing to try it and excited so many really liked it! It's great with chips or also delicious on fish tacos!

Congratulations to the 9-10th grade team on their 1st place at the McLean County Math Meet in Wilton today! Congratulations to Joshua Laning on his 2nd place individual finish and Tanner Fiedler on his 3rd place individual finish!
