Congratulations to Kari Patterson for making the All State Academic Honorable Mention Team! 210 high school seniors were nominated by their school principal and competed for statewide honor. Student selection was based on grade-point averages, ACT or SAT scores, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and leadership qualities. Great job, Kari!

School on Wednesday, March 26th (no longer the 19th) will dismiss at 12:15 for staff professional development.

The physical science and chemistry students hosted STEM day for our Kindergarten through 3rd grade students yesterday. It was great to see students learning while being engaged with some fun activities!

The FFA Chapter attended CDEs in Beulah on Feb. 22nd. The junior FFA Agronomy team (Donnie Vetter, Danny Neumiller and Rebecca Scheresky) finished 2nd overall. The senior agronomy team (Elizabeth Neumiller, Jada Vetter, and Berandt Olafson) finished 14th. The livestock team (Kalyn Braasch, Emily Beehler, Kalbi Voigt, Elilzabeth Tibke, Autumn Braasch, Jarissa Hoff, and Aubrey Holznagel) finished 8th overall. We did not have enough participants for an Ag. Sales team but Vivian Weber and Paxton Feist both had very good days.

Sidney Montgomery - 4th in Serious Prose, Gabe Rohrich - Tie for 1st in Humorous Interp & STATE QUALIFYING, Haley Matties - Top Novice in Humorous Interp, Christine Yunker - 4th in Dramatic Interp, Amelia Swanson - 5th in Dramatic Interp, Gabe Rohrich - 7th in Storytelling, Joanie McCormack - 4th in EPR, Joanie McCormack & Ethan Swanson - Tie for 1st in Humorous Duo & STATE QUALIFYING (2nd Time), and Christine Yunker - 2nd in Speech to Entertain. Signup sheet for Drivers Ed is in the High School Office. There is paperwork and calendar to be picked up in the office. Sign up sheet and course agreement must be returned by March 26. Below is the information for Drivers Ed for the summer.
Classroom instruction will be May 27, 28, 29, 30
Daily from 8-11:30am & 12-5:00pm
Student must be 14 years old by June 1st
Student must have passed 8th grade
Student must have their driving permit to do behind the wheel
The Drivers Ed class is $150, checks should be made out to the Washburn School. Payment needs to be taken care of in May and before class begins.
