Last month we introduced the CARDINALS Award for students in grades 7-12. Each month, this award recognizes a student who exemplifies a specific character trait that represents what it is to be a Cardinal. For February, the focus was No Excuses, and we’re proud to announce that Alina Sadykova is our recipient for this month! Alina always finds the a way to succeed, even when no one is watching. Congratulations!

Congratulations to our February students of the month! Daniel Neumiller (8th), Emily Beehler(10th), and Hannah Klabunde (11th) have worked very hard to be the excellent students that they are. Keep up the great work!

Meet the new WWCS assistant baseball coach Cyril Nagurski!
CYRIL NAGURSKI was born in Bismarck but spent his first few years at Washburn school pre-3rd grade before moving full time to Bismarck, so he is familiar with the Washburn community. Coach Nagurski played hockey, football, baseball throughout his high school career at Bismarck Century. After high school, Coach Nagurski played junior hockey in Minnesota and spent a season in Colorado being the baseball coach at Florence High school. Coach Nagurski moved back home to play college hockey at the University of Mary with Coach Horner. After his time at the University of Mary, he had a short pro hockey career this last season. Coach C currently is a learning center teacher at Mandan High school and is very excited to be a part of WWCS baseball program.
Fun Fact: Nagurski’s great-grandfather, Bronko Nagurski, played for the Minnesota Gophers and the Chicago Bears and is an NFL Hall of Famer. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is awarded annually to the best defensive players in NCAA Division I football.
