Student safety during arrival and dismissal is our top priority. Recently, we have observed an increase in unsafe drop-off practices. Some vehicles are avoiding the designated drop-off/pick-up area and stopping in traffic lanes or along the bus zone or across the street. This has resulted in children darting between buses and cars, creating dangerous situations.
To ensure the safety of all students, please follow these procedures:
Use only the designated drop-off/pick-up zone. Do not stop in traffic lanes or along the bus loading zone.
Pull forward as directed by staff to keep traffic moving safely.
Do not allow children to cross between buses or parked vehicles.
Be patient and alert. A few extra minutes of waiting helps keep every child safe.
Staff will be monitoring closely, and repeated unsafe practices will be addressed directly with families. We ask for your cooperation in modeling safe behaviors for our students. Together, we can prevent accidents and keep every child safe. Elementary children will be dropped off from the buses at Door 3 (old main office door) effective immediately on 7th Street to allow Door 4 (main elementary door) on 6th Avenue to be available for parent usage.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Sincerely,
Dr. Penny
Superintendent

Another successful tournament in the books for the Southern McLean Girls golf team! Ava Schmidt took 3rd for JV and Alexandria Arnold placed 5th but lost it in a tiebreaker! I’m so proud of these girls! If we didn’t take away a medal, we took away new friendships, memories, and lessons learned. We know what to work on next time we see each other, but for today, VICTORY! 🏅 ⛳️ 🏌🏻♀️-Coach Herzog
