Cross Country had a great meet up in Stanley today! The boys team continues to make noise (when everyone is eligible to score, look out!) Congratulations to Dan, Jace, Colt, Theron, and Julius for qualifying for the State Meet! A special congratulations to Dan for moving up to #2 All-Time in Roughrider co-op history, passing Cole Boysun. Only Coltan Hyttinen has run run a faster 5k than Dan since the Washburn-Wilton-Wing co-op was fully established in 2013.
The girls had a great showing in the 3k race, taking home the win as a team! Rissy and Adlyn were in the top 10, and all five of the top runners were in the top 21.
Great job today runners! Full results:

A little information about how our lunch program works here at WPS. We are an offer vs Serve school. So that means we offer many choices to the students but they are able to choose what they want. The hope is that this helps cut down on food going in the garbage and that kids are able to take the foods they know they like.

Please read parent information for PK-4 procedural changes this school year

There will be a "Welcome Back" lawn signage in front of the HS and Elementary tomorrow for the first day of school from Letter the Lawn if you'd like to take pictures of your student(s).

Cardinal Families,
As we prepare for the start of the school year, I want to share several important reminders regarding bus transportation, parking, and student drop-off and pick-up procedures. Our goal is to keep everyone safe while allowing our buses and vehicles to move efficiently around the school.
Bus Transportation
Our bus drivers are currently calling households with estimated pick-up and drop-off times. Please remember that times may fluctuate somewhat during the first several days of school as routes settle into a routine.
A few important reminders:
Students need to be ready and waiting for the bus at their designated pick-up location. Our routes are full and on a schedule, so drivers cannot wait for students who are not ready when the bus arrives.
Our buses are currently at capacity. Because of this, we will not transport students to a friend's home or allow students to ride another bus with a friend, regardless of whether they have a parent note. Transportation is limited to each student's assigned route and transportation arrangements.
If you have not already signed up for transportation, you must now contact the school office directly at 701-462-3221. Please understand that no new students will be added to bus routes until September while we establish our existing routes and determine available capacity.
Bus Drop-Off at School
Students arriving at school by bus will be dropped off at:
Door 3 – Located in the middle of the school building and used as the primary bus drop-off area.
Door 4 – Used for the in-town bus route only.
Parent Drop-Off & Pick-Up
For the safety of our students, parents may NOT park or stop in front of the school during morning drop-off or afternoon dismissal.
This area must remain open for our buses. Vehicles parked or stopped along the front of the school also create dangerous blind spots near the student crosswalk.
If you are bringing your child to school or picking your child up, please use the parking lot for drop-off and pick-up. Students should cross at the designated crosswalk at Door 1, our main school entrance.
A crosswalk monitor will be present during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal to assist students in safely crossing between the parking lot and the school.
Mid-Day Appointments & Student Check-In/Check-Out
For student safety and accountability, all mid-day student pick-ups and drop-offs for appointments or other reasons must take place through Door 1, the main school entrance.
Parents/guardians and students must check in and/or check out through the Central Office. Please do not use other entrances for mid-day arrivals or departures. This helps us know who is in the building and ensures that students are properly accounted for throughout the school day.
New & Additional Parking
We are excited to have new and additional parking available for both staff and students this year. The new parking area is currently gravel, and we will be marking parking spaces accordingly.
We ask everyone using our school parking areas to help us keep them safe and orderly:
Please park between the marked lines so we can make the best use of the additional parking space.
Watch your speed when entering and exiting all school parking lots.
Please drive slowly and cautiously on the streets surrounding the school, particularly during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.
Be especially alert for students, buses, crosswalks, and other vehicles as you enter and leave school property.
The beginning of the school year always takes a little extra patience as everyone learns new routines and our bus routes and traffic patterns get established. Please slow down, stay alert, follow the designated traffic and parking procedures, and help us keep Cardinal Country safe for everyone.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us get the school year off to a safe and positive start. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back!
