The 2025 5th and 6th grade science fair was held on Thursday. There were so many great presentations which made it difficult to narrow it down to the top three! Great job elementary Cardinals!

Cardinals lost to a great Grand Forks Central Varsity team yesterday but bounced back big against Turtle Mountain Varsity and won 14-9.

Roughrider Track and Field had a couple more qualifiers today at a small meet in Hazen! Congratulations to Erin for qualifying in pole vault and Maggie for qualifying in the 100-meter hurdles!

The Washburn FFA chapter attended the state horse judging competition in Fargo on May 9th.

This semester we started to award the CARDINALS Award for students in grades 7-12. Each month, this award recognizes a student who exemplifies a specific character trait that represents what it is to be a Cardinal. For May, the focus was Supportive, and we’re proud to share that Donnie Better is our recipient for this month! Donnie is always willing to help others and support the school the best he can. Congratulations!



Congratulations to our May students of the month! Autumn Braasch (7th), Brooke Knutson (10th), and Alex Seidler (12th) are great examples of earning success through hard work and dedication. Great job!




4th grade band meeting Monday, May 12 @ 7pm band room.
At this meeting families can sign up for beginner band camp (Aug 6-8), talk to a representative from Eckroth Music about instrument rentals, and try a few instruments to find the best fit.


It was another great day to be a Roughrider! Congratulations to Maggie for qualifying in the high jump, Brady, Beckett, Keaton, and Quinton for qualifying the 4x100 relay, and Beckett for qualifying in the 200 (in his first ever attempt at that distance)!!! Semester 2 Tests for Grades 7-12 will take place Tuesday May 20 through Thursday May 22. Please see the image for dates and times scheduled to tests of classes.
Students are able to receive additional help each day once their tests ends at 2:20. If no additional help is needed, students are dismissed for the remainder of the day.
After the final test on Thursday is completed, school will dismiss for summer break at 2:20.
Buses will run at normal times on Tuesday May 20 and Wednesday May 21. Buses will depart at 2:25 on Thursday May 22 .
